Interior design proposal: Decorating a modernist apartment

Interior design is a field that I love but in which I’m not an expert. I like to design products to create environments with a unique atmosphere but better experts will place and combine theme in a room than me. What I do want to do with these products is to imagine a perfect place for everyone of them. I will be using the products of the collection and others from different designers and we will see how to decorate each one of the spaces highlighting the details and the reason for each choice.

This decoration proposal is inspired by a modernist flat like those we see in the L’Eixample of Barcelona. I’ve tried to create wide spaces but at the same time cozy with the light as the main element. In this type of proposals I want to emphasize more the distribution and location of the different elements themselves than the details of colors and textures, in order to get a bigger picture of the whole room. Let’s see a proposal on how to decorate a modernist apartment.

Decorating a reading corner

The decoration of this space has been designed for a reading lover who spends hours immersed in a books Having this idea in mind I’ve created a cozy environment without many complicacy, a place for the reader to enjoy stories and adventures. What is better than sitting in a comfortable Eames Lounge chair? — was designed in 1956 by the couple of artists Charles & Ray Eames. Around the Eames armchair there is a low cabinet full of books. On the floor a carpet to rest the feet and, next to the armchair, the indispensable Dorking floor lamp that gives to the whole room a funny and playful touch becoming a reading partner.

A perfect bedroom with a dressing room

Turning now to the bedroom, we’ve taken advantage of the bed symmetry to place two Mia Ballerina lamps each side finished in gold, which bring delicacy and femininity to the room, providing a warm and cozy light that it can either be used as general illumination or reading light.

In the dressing room, the central furniture is illuminated with hanging several Lobelia suspension lamps in black with the golden spiral, keeping the same style as the bedroom, accompanied with spotlights in the ceiling to illuminate the whole room.

The perfect living room to talk about music

Finally we see how to decorate a space for music fans. The living room has been designed with wide spaces and large walls which have been decorated with a matrix of paintings, a nice way to fill the largest wall. In the center of the room, we’ve placed two Light’n’Roll lamps finished in fumé.
